Abstract:

The controlling resistance in condensation of mixtures is generally the diffusional resistance in the vapor phase. Models of varying complexity and accuracy are available to calculate the vapor-phase resistance. This report reviews the recent developments in the modeling of the vapor side heat and mass transfer processes and is a follow-up of the HTRI Report CG-2 on this subject. A detailed account is given of the improvements made to the Resistance Proration Method. The methods of Colburn-Hougen and Krishna-Standart are discussed.
