TPF-2 Pressure Drop in Two-Phase Flow Across Tube Banks
A literature survey is made of published correlations for shellside two-phase pressure drops which are compared to HTRI proprietary data plus literature data. In general, results were widely scattered and existing correlations failed to account for necessary fundamental conditions, such as major flow regimes. A unique new method was developed which considers the flow structure of four basic regimes as specified by force balance and liquid loading parameters. Significantly improved results are obtained for existing data, and it is believed that the logical structure of the method will provide a much more sound basis for correlation and interpretation of new data than was previously available.
