TE-4 Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Methods for Tubeside Single-Phase Flow with Twisted Tape Inserts
HTRI’s original heat transfer and pressure drop methods for tubeside single-phase flow with twisted tape inserts are based on correlations in the open literature. Recently, we collected experimental data for intube single-phase flow using twisted tape inserts in the Multipurpose Condensation Unit (MCU) and the Multipurpose Boiling Unit (MBU). Using these data, we evaluated and improved the existing single-phase flow heat transfer and pressure drop methods using twisted tape inserts. These methods were implemented in Xist™ 2.0 and Xace™ 2.0. This report documents our findings and compares Xist predictions with measured data.
