TE-4 Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Methods for Tubeside Single-Phase Flow with Twisted Tape Inserts

HTRI’s original heat transfer and pressure drop methods for tubeside single-phase flow with twisted tape inserts are based on correlations in the open literature. Recently, we collected experimental data for intube single-phase flow using twisted tape inserts in the Multipurpose Condensation Unit (MCU) and the Multipurpose Boiling Unit (MBU). Using these data, we evaluated and improved the existing single-phase flow heat transfer and pressure drop methods using twisted tape inserts. These methods were implemented in Xist 2.0 and Xace 2.0. This report documents our findings and compares Xist predictions with measured data.
