STG-14 Two-Phase Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop in Double-Pipe Heat Exchangers with Longitudinal Fins

HTRI has developed methods for calculating two-phase heat transfer and pressure drop, applicable to the boiling and condensation regimes in double-pipe heat exchangers with annulus-side longitudinal fins. We are including this method as an option in Xist 3.0 so that users are not limited to single-phase flow in this geometry. The Xist calculations compare well with recommended overall heat transfer coefficients for boiling and condensing hydrocarbons from manufacturers’ literature.
