Abstract:

Mixed convection consists of forced convection flow influenced by natural convection and is observed for liquids flowing through horizontal tubes with Reynolds numbers less than 10000. This report documents mixed convection heat transfer measurements for liquid flow inside tubes and proposes an improved prediction method. Alternative models for mixed convection compare favorably with the proposed approach for subsets of the reviewed data.
