S-SS-3-23 Single-Phase Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop for Plain Tube Banks

After using several data sources to evaluate HTRI and alternative predictions of pressure drop and heat transfer of plain tube banks, we propose changes to our correlations that improve the accuracy for Reynolds numbers greater than 10,000 and for non-square inline layouts. The correlations predict over 80 percent of pressure drop and heat transfer measurements within ±20 percent. Continued study of the HTRI Stream Analysis Method and additional experimental work is necessary to support future implementation of the proposed changes in HTRI software.
