Abstract:

Pressure drop and heat transfer methods for No-Tube-in-Window (NTIW) exchangers are discussed in this report. Data on a NTIW exchanger with various bundle configurations were gathered at HTRI in 1989. In addition, isothermal pressure drop data collected at Argonne National Laboratory, Shell Oil Company and earlier data collected by HTRI as part of the fouling program also were used in developing the correlations. The 1989 HTRI data used water and dieseline as the test fluids while the Argonne and HTRI fouling experiments used water as the test fluid. The Shell Oil Company data were limited to two data points with hydrocarbon gas as the test fluid.
