RB7-4 Two-Phase Horizontal Crossflow over Tube Banks

This paper concerns the pressure drop due to form drag and friction during the horizontal flow of two-phase mixtures over tube banks.

Equations are developed for the pressure drop during the transition from stratified and bubble flow to spray flow. The development is based on an observation regarding the influence of the homogeneous momentum flux on the transition.

The new equations give improved agreement with the available data for pressure drop at low mass dryness fractions, give predictions independent of the number of rows normal to the flow, and introduce a dependence on vapor density in the transition region.
