ESG-15 Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop of Large Diameter Finned Tubes

This report presents the results of a literature review and evaluation of heat transfer and pressure drop methods for large size tubes with segmented or stud fins in both the staggered and inline arrangements. Comparisons are made with HTRI and published wind-tunnel data, field heat-recovery data (when available), and HTRI and open-literature correlations. The correlations with the best agreement with the data are identified and recommended for each particular tube layout arrangement. Further research is recommended in order to improve the existing predictive methods.
