CS-15 Shellside Reflux Condensation Methods
Methods specifically for designing and rating shellside reflux condensers are not available in Xist® 6. To meet HTRI members’ needs, we propose these initial methods for determining critical flooding velocity, heat transfer, and pressure drop based on an analysis of the available information. This report documents these proposed correlations and presents predictions from a parametric analysis. Further research is required to establish accurate methods for the successful design and operation of reflux condensers to be used in the chemical, petrochemical, and power industries.
