Careers - Senior Engineer, Technical Support - Technical Sales & Training

HTRI seeks an individual to provide end-user technical support and consulting services to members and help coordinate global technical support. This position is based in the United Kingdom (UK).

Principal Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and respond to technical inquiries related to HTRI software and methods; evaluate user cases. Provide technical assistance to customers and HTRI staff. Evaluate all technical inquiries to identify areas of interest/uncertainties. Prepare technical documentation including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Application Notes, Known Issues, and TechTips.
  • Help coordinate responses of the global technical support team. Perform project studies on complex inquiries that complement HTRI's technical program. Contribute to projects related to these complex technical inquiries. Evaluate field data against software results. 
  • Coordinate technical support training for Test Engineers; provide training to other technical staff to familiarize them with HTRI products and our technical support services.
  • Perform independent quality assurance tests and evaluate software methods described in research reports prior to release. Alpha and beta test developmental versions of HTRI software. Verify and validate calculations and/or output reports. Identify and recommend software corrections. Prepare and review work items as needed.  
  • Take the lead or serve as the secondary reviewer for contract thermal ratings and design reviews.
  • Develop spreadsheet interface tools which provide customized input, calculations, and output for clients.
  • Develop utility applications and coordinate library of available apps.
  • Identify areas of uncertainty in HTRI methods that impact process plant operations and heat exchanger design. Recommend solutions. Working with the software development and research staff, author text on the impact of software method changes on industry cases.
  • Prepare and review training materials for webinars, in-house training sessions, tutorials, Global Conference presentations/poster sessions, workbooks for classroom training, and case studies. Conduct training upon request.
  • Conduct workshops and short courses on HTRI technology.
  • Provide technical content for marketing materials and articles for trade journals.
  • Provide technical sales support to Regional Sales Manager, EMEA. 

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering OR seven years of technical support experience at HTRI or relevant industry experience with HTRI software
  • Detailed knowledge of HTRI methods and software
  • Familiarity with programming languages used in HTRI software
  • Good organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of instrumentation, data acquisition systems, measurement uncertainties, and the principles of fluid mechanics and heat transfer

Preferred but not essential

  • Professional Engineer (PE) 
  • Experience with troubleshooting heat transfer–related problems

Individual must already have authorization to work in the UK without visa sponsorship and to travel in Europe and the US without securing a visa..
