BX-14 Flow Boiling across Horizontal Plain Tube Bundles, Part II: Heat Transfer Methods

This report documents new data and proposes several improved methods, including wet-wall boiling and its transition to dry-wall heat transfer. The new flow boiling model includes two heat transfer mechanisms and is much simpler than the current four-mechanism model in HTRI Xchanger Suite 7.0. Overall, this two-mechanism model predicts boiling heat transfer coefficients more accurately—about 10 percent higher in wet-wall conditions and 14 percent higher in partial or complete dry-wall conditions than the current four-mechanism model.
