Abstract:

HTRI’s current row correction factors, based on overall average calculations, account for the effect of different tuberows in high-finned air-cooled heat exchangers. Xace, a fully incremental program for the design, rating, and simulation of air-cooled heat exchangers and economizers, calculates heat transfer and pressure drop row by row through the tube bank. Incremental row correction factors that accurately account for the row effect for each tuberow are crucial for accurate prediction of bundle performance. This report documents the development of new correction factors for both pressure drop and heat transfer that were developed after AC-11 was prepared, describes the experimental data, and compares Xace predictions with those data.
