Abstract:

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was used to calculate the nozzle pressure drop K-values for spiral plate heat exchangers. Results of this analysis resolved the discrepancy between K-values from the Minton method and in PHE-11. The K-values from PHE-11 compared better with the CFD results in the region of Reynolds numbers studied (120000 < ReN < 800000).
