HTRI Training - Japan

Chiba, Japan | June 26 - 28, 2018


HTRI invites you to a three-day training event in Chiba. From June 26 - 28, 2018 at the World Business Garden for the following workshops, presented in English and Japanese:

  • Xace
  • Xist
  • Heat Exchanger Troubleshooting

We encourage you to register as soon as possible! Take advantage of this hands-on opportunity to improve your understanding of HTRI software. The training will be conducted using Xchanger Suite 7.3.



Training Courses

Check-in begins at 8:30 AM. Courses run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

Course fees include arrival tea/coffee, lunches and snacks at breaks and training materials (workbooks, solutions booklets, and electronic copies of the case files). Computers with Xchanger Suite are available for use during the training event. Computers may be shared with other attendees.

    Xace Workshop  (US$450)

    Instructor: Hitoshi Miyamoto

    Do you design only air-cooled heat exchangers? Evaluate their performance? Then this workshop is for you. Unlike the Xchanger Suite workshops, this course focuses only on air-cooler geometry. Learn how to use Xace effectively to rate and design air-cooled heat exchangers, economizers, and air preheaters. All example problems and practice exercises relate to geometries handled only by Xace.

    Xist Workshop  (US$450)

    Instructors: Hitoshi Miyamoto and Ying Ma

    Even if your work is limited to shell-and-tube heat exchangers, there’s much to be learned! This workshop is devoted to the geometries handled only by Xist. The day focuses on the extensive options available in Xist and how you can use these methods effectively to solve several example problems. You will leave the class knowing how to take full advantage of the features this robust tool offers.

    Heat Exchanger Troubleshooting Workshop  (US$450)

    Instructor: Hitoshi Miyamoto

    Design decisions can have a costly impact on heat exchanger operation. Learn by reviewing several real cases in which unit designs had critical commercial consequences for operators/ owners. In some cases, the units did not work in service; in others, the designs were revamped before the units began operation.

    Each case study is introduced as a problem; participants work individually or in groups to determine the cause and develop solutions. Prior to each case, the instructor reviews related HTRI methods.

    • Flooded condenser with inadequate subcooling
    • Air-cooled condenser with noncondensables

Instructors

Ying Ma
Ying ma

Heat Transfer Specialist, Toyo Engineering Corporation, Chiba, Japan, has over 25 years of experience in the design of shell-and tube heat exchangers, evaluation of special heat exchangers in petroleum, petrochemical, fertilizer as well as many other downstream plants. He graduated with a doctoral degree in nuclear power engineering from Hokkaido University. He served as the chair of HTRI's Communication Committee - Japan from 2011 to 2014.


Hitoshi Miyamoto
Hitoshi miyamoto

Technical Representative, Japan, holds both a BS and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan. Miyamoto retired after over 35 years with IHI Corporation, where he held numerous Project Manager and Project Engineering positions in LNG/ LPG, chemical plant, nuclear power plant (PW/BWR), re-processing plant, and pharmaceutical plant. Following his retirement, he continued to do consulting work for his former employer on heat transfer and fluid flow, air coolers, and LNG/BWR/PWR plant engineering projects. Miyamoto also served on the HTRI Technical Committee from 1999 – 2003. His knowledge of HTRI technology and decades of engineering expertise enable him to provide quality technical support and training to our customers in Japan. Miyamoto is a registered Professional Engineer and First Class Management Engineer in Design & Construction (Japan).
