Careers - Engineer, Technical Support
HTRI seeks an individual to provide end-user technical support and consulting services to members, as well as to ensure software methods reflect actual user experiences. This person will work from our Navasota, Texas headquarters.
Principal Responsibilities
- Technical support
Respond to technical inquiries related to HTRI software and methods. Prepare technical documentation including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Known Issues, and TechTips. - Software QA
Perform independent quality assurance review and testing of software and research reports prior to release. Verify and validate calculations and/or output reports. Identify and recommend software corrections. Prepare and review work items, as needed. - Engineering proprietary contracts
Perform engineering work under proprietary contract as lead or secondary review, including reviewing designs of proprietary prototype heat transfer products and performing root-cause analyses of industrial heat transfer equipment with operating problems. - Engineering studies
Perform project studies on complex inquiries that complement HTRI’ s technical program. Contribute to projects related to these complex technical inquiries. Evaluate field data against software results. - Training
Provide technical content for new workshops, short course materials, web-based tutorials, and other training products; conduct training. Assist with continuous updating of all training products. Provide both end-user and internal technical staff training.
Qualifications
- BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Excellent communication and presenting abilities (oral and written)
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Knowledge of process industry operations
Preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of HTRI methods and software
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT status
- Experience with troubleshooting heat transfer–related problems
- Experience with FORTRAN, C++, and other programming languages
