Careers - Engineer, Software Development

HTRI seeks someone to develop and improve HTRI engineering software for members, including implementing engineering methods evolving from ongoing research.

Principal responsibilities 

  • Modify existing software and implement new engineering methods in languages such as Fortran, C/C++, and C# from a given set of requirements
  • Develop and modify graphic user interfaces from a given set of requirements
  • Develop and run tests to ensure engineering methods are correctly implemented
  • Work collaboratively with team members to resolve bugs in existing code bases
  • Update documentation for implemented or modified methods
  • Participate in conception of new requirements
  • Gain understanding of fundamentals of heat transfer technologies


  • BS, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering OR Bachelor's degree and two years of professional engineering experience
  • Implementation experience in at least two of the following languages: Fortran, C/C++, C#

Preferred but not essential 

  • Knowledge of process heat exchangers
  • Experience with numerical methods
  • Working knowledge of MFC, WinForms, WPF, COM, or WinAPI

Individual must possess authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

This staff person will be expected to work from our Navasota, Texas headquarters.
