HTRI seeks an individual to manage and execute assigned HTRI research projects involving the acquisition of experimental data, analytical research, and the correlation of data.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Identify potential short- and long-range research projects; prepare project specifications for short- and long-range research projects; draft schedules for assigned projects.
  • Propose experimental program, designs for new test units, and modifications of existing test units.
  • Execute experiments; collect and evaluate test data; prepare project progress reports.
  • Develop new correlations and design methods in heat transfer technology using test data and/or analytical models.
  • Provide software development staff with accurate data and methods to produce software-based design methods for process heat transfer equipment.
  • Respond to technical inquiries related to domain expertise.
  • Perform numerical studies, such as with CFD software, addressing heat transfer and fluid flow problems in the process industry.
  • Write HTRI technical reports, Design Manual sections, and newsletter articles; maintain experimental data records; make presentations at HTRI Global Conference and other technical conferences.
  • Upon request, prepare materials for and present workshops, short courses, and webinars.
  • Execute contract research projects.

Qualifications

  • MS, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry and two (2) years of industrial engineering research experience.
  • Work requires knowledge of precedents, practices, and principles of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and chemistry.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written).

Preferred but Not Essential

  • PhD, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas.

Individual must possess authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. This staff person will be expected to work from our Navasota, Texas headquarters.
