HTRI Receives 2005 CAPE-OPEN Award

College Station, Texas, USA
April 1, 2006

The CAPE-OPEN Laboratories Network (CO-LaN) presented its 2005 award to Heat Transfer Research, Inc. (HTRI) for supporting the successful commercial implementation of the CAPE-OPEN Unit interface in a specialized engineering software (Xchanger Suite) with a global user base.

Werner Merk, President of CO-LaN, presented the award to Fernando J. Aguirre, Vice President, Sales and Business Development, who received it on behalf of HTRI during the March 2006 CO-LaN Annual Meeting held in Cannes, France. This is an important achievement for HTRI because we have made CAPE-OPEN compliance a significant element of our corporate strategy.

In a fairly short time, we implemented and demonstrated the use of Xchanger Suite within a process flowsheet using the CAPE-OPEN interface. This feature is available for Xace, Xist, and Xphe and has been tested with the Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II, and UniSim Design process simulators.

Xchanger Suite 5.0 includes a CAPE-OPEN thermodynamic interface, which allows the use of any CAPE-OPEN compliant physical property package within HTRI’s Property Generator. This feature greatly expands the options for physical properties available to Xchanger Suite.

In addition to direct links to various process simulators and physical property packages, the CAPE-OPEN thermodynamic option extends the capabilities without the need for further development. The CAPE-OPEN thermodynamic option has been tested and demonstrated with Aspen Plus, UniSim Design, Simulis, and PPDS.

HTRI has been a member of CO-LaN for several years, and we are committed to implementation and support of applicable CAPE-OPEN interfaces throughout our products. These interfaces allow users of HTRI software to seamlessly integrate HTRI exchanger technology in a process flowsheet environment.
