Manager, Desktop Services
Principal Responsibilities
Individual will manage end-user information systems including desktop and laptop computers, telephones, and local and networked printers.
- Supervise and train technical support specialists
- Provide technical support to engineering and administrative staff in College Station and Navasota
- Set up, test, and deploy new software and workstations
- Troubleshoot PC hardware and Microsoft Office applications
- Document work procedures
Qualifications
This position requires excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and initiative. Candidates must have either
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Information Systems and five years’ experience in a networked computer environment
- Ten years’ of experience in a networked computer environment
In addition, applicants must have
- Two years’ supervisory experience
- Two years’ experience providing technical support in an organization with at least 25 end-users
- Working knowledge of current Microsoft® Office products, servers, and operating systems, plus LINUX/UNIX, and SQL
- Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
Preference will be given to candidates with
- working knowledge of Apache, MS SQL, Perl, MySQL, PHP, XML, Java, JavaScript, VBScript, and ASP
- two years’ equipment and budget planning experience
Project Engineer, Engineering Applications
Principal Responsibilities
Work in a team-oriented environment with researchers and applications developers on Xchanger Suite, HTRI’s premier software product:
- Identify and develop new approaches/features for software development projects
- Write software technical specifications
- Plan, manage, and execute software projects
- Assist in resolving customer inquiries
- Maintain/enhance existing software products and interfaces to 3rd-party applications
- Define and develop new heat transfer and hydraulic analysis software models
- Prepare and present technical presentations
Qualifications
- BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Five years of experience in the design, fabrication, or operation of process heat transfer equipment (preferably shell-and-tube or air-cooled)
- Three years of experience in developing engineering applications using
- Microsoft® Windows-based application development
- C, C++, and/or FORTRAN
- Proven ability to develop/deliver formal presentations/reports
Individual must already possess authorization to work in the United States.
Engineer, Engineering Applications

- One year of experience/internship in the petroleum, chemical, or petrochemical process industry
- Experience in developing software applications using
- Microsoft® Windows-based application development
- C, C++, and/or FORTRAN programming
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Good communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
